@alonbl, would you be interested in maintaining this package? Its only reverse dependency is app-arch/createrepo which is maintained by you.

OK, will maintain that for now.

This is the same case of rsync embedding zlib.
It is a fork of zlib not upstream zlib.
As this implementation knows to build with both, I added system-zlib USE.
