Bug 58278 – frozen-bubble dies at SDL Init

When I start frozen-bubble it dies with the following error.
DL Init] [Graphics.SDL::Surface::new failed. Unsupported image format at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.4/i686-linux-thread-multi/SDL/Surface.pm line 53.

I have tried recompiling all of its dependencies with both gcc-3.3.3 and gcc-3.4.1-r1.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.frozen-bubble in command line
2.frozen-bubble dies with error
Actual Results:  
frozen-bubble spits out an error message and dies.

Expected Results:  
frozen-bubble starts and I play a fun game.

I was talking to falmarian([e-mail]) in #gentoo, and he said that he would try to work on a bug-fix.

From the perl ebuild:

        ewarn "PLEASE NOTE: You are compiling perl-5.8 with"
        ewarn "threading enabled."
        ewarn "Threading is not supported by all applications "
        ewarn "that compile against perl. You use threading at "
        ewarn "your own discretion. "

We don't support USE="threads".  I'm going to mark this INVALID.  However, if
you come up with a patch for sdl-perl that fixes this.  Feel free to open a new
bug for the perl team.  Thanks.
