I am experiencing random system freezes (everything locks up, including mouse and keyboard; CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work) running xorg-x11 and nvidia-kernel 1.0.6106-r1. I encounter about 1 or 2 freezes an hour while actively working in KDE. I've tried using the "nv" driver instead of "nvidia" and so far there have been no lockups. I run xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1, gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7-r11. I am experiencing a similar problem. On startup, KDE always freezes before the loading sequence finishes. Fluxbox will freeze within a minute. I'm using kde-3.3.0, nvidia-kernel-1.0.6111, xorg-x11-6.7.0-r2. Works fine if I use the nv driver instead of the nvidia driver. Hmmm... See if you can remote access the machine after a lockup and get a log kernel or Xorg or both preferably... Can you kill Xorg and then the machine work properly or is it a hard lockup? First try updating to nvidia-kernel-1.0.6111-r2 This is a dead bug... closing. If youu still have the problem with recent verisons, please reopen with updated version info. |
