Description Matthias Nagel 2016-04-23 16:54:15 UTC
I upgraded from KDE 4 to KDE 5. Since then Firefox 38.7 crashes with a segmentation fault when opening a save-as-dialog or an open-file-dialog (for uploading). Reproducibly: always.

Interestingly, the crash does not happen on another box with a clean installation (no upgrade from KDE 4) but otherwise identical packages, identical use flags, identical architecture. So I recompiled the whole system via
"equery list -F '$cp:$slot' -f '.*' > all-packages.txt", "emerge --oneshot --keep-going `cat all-packages.txt`".

The problem persisted. Hence, I recompiled the whole system a 2nd time with

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=core-avx2 -pipe -ggdb"
FEATURES="splitdebug compressdebug"

See attached backtrace of core dump.

Could you test a newer version of www-client/firefox?
Comment 3 Matthias Nagel 2016-04-30 08:42:54 UTC
The crash does not occur after an upgrade to version 45.x.y. However, the crash also disappears with a clean user profile and version 38.7.

I cannot check if the bug does still exist in 45.x.y. in principle. Under the assumption that a broken user profile triggers the bug, I cannot reproduce the error because if I take my (assumedly broken) user profile from 38.7 and then upgrade, the newer version of firefox sanitizes the user profile on first start up and thus cleans out the presumably error.

removing kde from cc then, nothing to do for us. Feel free to stable a newer version.

If you feel I have closed your bug and it is still a current issue, please reopen and update it completely. We will not work bugs that have no ebuild in tree any longer or can not be reproduced with a current system.
