qmail-scanner does NOT explictly require f-prot.
it lists [R]DEPEND="virtual/antivirus"

If you are not on x86 or amd64, the only antivirus available is app-antivirus/clamav, which also happens to be the default virtual on ALL platforms.
Comment 2 James Kyle 2004-07-21 21:02:11 UTC
My apologies. I must have confused it with another package I was installing in setting up my mail server. Unfortunately/fortunately I have sync'd and none give the error anymore.

It is missing the ppc or ~ppc keyword though, should I file a new bug report on that?

cheers
