Description Markus Wernig 2016-03-31 22:00:21 UTC
For some time now, Amarok does no longer display any content in the Wikipedia Applet (should show artist, track or other info as configured).

The reason seems to be that it can't follow Wikipedia's redirects from http to https.

According to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349313 this was worked around in http://commits.kde.org/amarok/284342b48dc32341c3553fd2b0ee5069d75b58f9.

With that, it should be in 2.8.90, but I can't find any ebuild for that in ~amd64. Could it be ported there?

Thx & best

/markus

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable Wikipedia Applet in amarok
2. Play a song that contains ID3 tags

Actual Results:
Wikipedia applet remains empty

Expected Results:
Wikipedia applet should fetch artist info for current song from Wikipedia

Looking at the commit, there should be a new config Option "UseSSL". Setting it manually in ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc in the [Wikipedia Applet] section has no effect.

2.8.90 is in the kde overlay currently
Comment 2 Markus Wernig 2016-04-29 08:28:36 UTC
Just upgraded to 2.8.90, and the wikipedia plugin loads fine again.

thanks!
