At the moment, the default tool for creating a partition table is parted, with the rationale given as:

"Both are partitioning tools, fdisk is well known and stable and recommended for the MBR partition layout, while parted is more recent and recommended for GPT layouts."

This is no longer the case, as fdisk has gained good GPT support by now. There is no longer any reason to prefer one or the other any more.

As such, the fdisk section should also be updated to reflect that and not assume MBR. Also of note is that this note is no longer accurate either:

"To use GPT support, add -t gpt."

fdisk now enables GPT support by default, without having to pass that flag.

In addition, there is no mention of gdisk (gptfdisk) at all in the handbook (although I'm not certain if it's included in the minimal installation CD to begin with). Nor is cfdisk mentioned, even though it is more user-friendly than either parted or fdisk.
