as the summary says, did 'ekeyword macos patch-2.5.9.ebuild', then 'emerge patch' and it comiles and works fine

oh yeah, in other words can be marked as stable on macos

It seems there is little/no need for a more updated version of patch to be installed. The version of GNU patch that comes with mac os x (panther) is 2.5.8. Replacing already existing files on the livefs is not allowed by gentoo for mac os x policy.

If i'm wrong, or someone feels that we really need an updated version of patch (perhaps in the form of gpatch), please feel free to re-open this bug.
