On 28.02.2016 announced jabberd2 2.3.6.
In portage jabberd2-2.3.4 now.

1. New release requires sys-devel/autoconf-archive if eautoreconf used in ebuild.
Without autoconf-archive I have:
./configure: line 12456: syntax error near unexpected token `-fdiagnostics-color,'
./configure: line 12456: `AX_CHECK_COMPILE_FLAG(-fdiagnostics-color, CFLAGS="${CFLAGS} -fdiagnostics-color",'

2. Instead of
  epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-optimization.patch
please look upstream patch:
