This solves it for me: # echo =dev-tcltk/expect-5.44.1.15::gentoo -doc >> /etc/portage/package.use # emerge -1 =dev-tcltk/expect-5.44.1.15::gentoo I noticed "doc" is in your USE variable. Is it in your make.conf? We generally don't recommend setting USE="doc" in make.conf, as it can result in varying behavior and a ton of files. That said, it looks like this is a problem with how it's generating and/or installing its examples. I'll take a closer look. This comment is mostly to let you know the bug's not been ignored.
