The current stable version, dev-python/paramiko-1.15.1-r1, does not play well with the Hetzner (a German hoster) backup servers: Uploads hang indefinitely.

The issue is documented here:

The possible cause can be found by having a careful look at the logs:
ssh: [chan 1] Max packet out: 0 bytes

Apparently newer versions contain a fix for this bug.
