even after using the latest ebuild (typo3_ebuilds-3.6.1_gd_fixed.tar.gz). typo3_src could not emerge due to a gd error [emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "media-libs/gd".]. I had to work around this by copying the libgd directory to gd and renaming files in there from libgd to gd.

emerge failed
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy "media-libs/gd".
