I am experiencing the exact same problem. X starts up and I get the X cursor, but then it freezes and I get no window manager. If I disable the radeon and agpgart modules, it works fine. This originally happened after I did a fresh install of 2004.1 and emerged xorg-x11 using the original gcc. Since then I've updated to gcc-3.4.1 and recompiled xorg-x11 (and the whole system) and I still have the same issue. I also have the Radeon 7500 (ibook G3 900). My log file shows the same warnings as the submittor and no errors. Let me know if I can provide any more info. Portage 2.0.50-r9 (default-ppc-2004.1, gcc-3.4.1, glibc-2.3.4.20040605-r1, 2.6.7 -gentoo-r11) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 ppc 750FX Gentoo Base System version 1.5.2 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc ~ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=750 -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/s hare/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=750 -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo http://gentoo.mirrored.ca/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/home/cmason/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa berkdb crypt cups dvd esd faad fbcon foomaticdb gdbm gif gpm gtk gtk 2 imap imlib jpeg libwww lzw-tiff mad matroska mbox mitshm motif mozilla moznoco mpose moznoirc mpeg ncurses oggvorbis opengl oss pam perl png ppc python readlin e sdl slang speex ssl theora tiff truetype video_cards_radeon xface xv xvid zlib " did you load <your_chipset>-agp and agpgart before you loaded the Xserver? I no longer have access to my iBook with the radeon card, so I realy can't give any more information. Maybe the other user with the same problem can be of assistance.. Nope, there is no agpgart driver for this hardware. And the DRI Radeon driver worked with XFree86 and xorg-x11 6.7.0. So this bug is outdated. Can you please close it, david? Seems so, then I'll just close it. |
