what's an nvNet? :o) Nvnet is the module used by nForce motherboards manufactured by MSI. To my knowledge, the drive is a modified 8139too module. I am unsure on whether this is even possible or not because of licensing, etc. with Nvidia. As from Oct. 30 thet latest nvnet driver from NVIDIA is available. It fixes some major problems with DHCP and includes support for nforce2 boards. http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86_40/nforce/1.0-0248/NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0248.tar.gz It would be good to have this driver on the Gentoo 1.4 LiveCD, since otherwise you have a chicken-and-egg situation on all nforce motherboards (except those manufactured by ASUS) that you have no network running but need one to get the drivers inbstalled. Hi. I just committed a new "net-misc/nforce-net" package to Portage cvs. It should be showing up on rsync soon, and it will be included in the next version of the livecd. I will leave this bug open until the new LiveCD is actually online. nvnet is on the "2002121700" and later experimental livecds at http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/experimental/livecd/. Closing this bug. Thanks for the bug report :) Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this. |
