Since kernel upgrade to =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.1.8 (presently 4.1.12) there are random errors in the logs like

kernel: [drm:i915_irq_handler] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

is this still an issue with recent kernels ?

Just updated to 4.9.16.  Please give me some time to watch.
When the problem goes away I will close this bug in a month.

Seems to be fixed.  In fact, I never had it with gentoo-sources:4.9.16
