This news item is missing an Author header, causing my PM to throw warnings.

GLEP42 also says it is a mandatory header.

suggestion: use paludis to validate news item, since it seems the only PM that is capable of doing so

thanks for the tip. i've never used paludis before, how does it work?

okay pushed.  i see how paludis does the check.  it would be nice to have a tool on the dev side rather than on the client side.

reopen if it fails at your end.
