Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-10-17 17:47:17 UTC
It looks like upstream is not providing the sources for a long time, then, either someone updates ebuild to move to their new precompiled tarballs (if they have proper licenses too) or this should be cleaned
Comment 1 William L. Thomson Jr. 2016-01-10 16:02:24 UTC
There is no reason for this to be masked, and sources are available as they have always been.

Sources for 0.9.2 in tree have been available for many years...
http://sourceforge.net/projects/flamerobin/files/flamerobin/0.9.2/flamerobin-0.9.2-src.tar.gz/download

Also mirrored on Github
https://github.com/mariuz/flamerobin

Furthermore this will compile and work with wxwidgets:3. Try it yourself, update the flamerobin 0.9.2. ebuild to use wxGTK:3 and it should compile and run just fine. I did this some time back.

Please remove the mask ASAP!!!

removed
Comment 4 William L. Thomson Jr. 2016-02-29 23:20:42 UTC
I cannot believe this was removed from tree, what freaking idiots for real... Gentoo is such a mess... I will add to my overlay in github, where current Firebird ebuilds and odbc driver can be found...
Comment 5 William L. Thomson Jr. 2016-03-01 21:13:08 UTC
Current sources, just missing tag filed issue requesting tag

https://github.com/mariuz/flamerobin

I have added the removed package here

https://github.com/Obsidian-StudiosInc/os-xtoo/tree/master/dev-db/flamerobin

I will have an updated one with wxGTK 3.0 support soon, making a live ebuild now.
Comment 6 William L. Thomson Jr. 2016-03-02 21:12:35 UTC
This was really difficult.... Upstream has sources in two places, I asked them to do a tag on Github and they did it there and S.F.

https://github.com/mariuz/flamerobin/issues/1
https://github.com/mariuz/flamerobin/archive/0.9.3.1.zip

Upstream is clearly alive, easily reachable, sources are in many locations. This is pretty embarrassing for Gentoo and the developer who choose to remove a package with an active upstream.... Very sad!!!! This should never have occurred, but does reflect the current state of gentoo. Lack of man power, lots of packages unmaintained, unwillingness of existing developers to maintain. They rather punt, and have people maintain outside of Gentoo. Slowly but surely withering Gentoo away... Already have to turn to Funtoo for Gnome. Now anyone wanting Firebird, Flamerobin, Jaybird, or the ODBC driver will have to visit my overlay.... Pathetic!!!!

GO GENTOO!!!!!!!
