Sorry for the bit late update, a simple version bump should be enough. An ebuild is already available in this overlay: https://github.com/adjust/gentoo-overlay/tree/master/app-misc/elasticsearch @chainsaw: I can attach the ebuild here, or send a pull request on GitHub if you prefer. I'm not sure what works best for you since the tree migration to git. 1.7.3 is out:

A new major version 2.0 got released, so if possible, let's keep the previous stable versions around.
