Emerge virtual/mailx-1. This pulls in net-mail/mailutils-2.99.98 which fails to compile

I confirm. I just got the exact same problem with the build blocking on the same error.

net-mail/mailutils-2.99.x is no longer in the tree.  Please reopen if you still have this problem.
