dmesg after starting cinnamon
Here is the output of dmesg after entering my password in lightdm to start cinnamon.
This is what I see in journalctl about cinnamon-session: -- Logs begin at lun. 2015-10-05 19:30:57 CEST, end at mar. 2015-10-13 22:45:45 CEST. -- oct. 13 22:27:38 yuna cinnamon-session[2108]: WARNING: Application 'cinnamon.desktop' killed by signal 15 oct. 13 22:27:39 yuna cinnamon-session[2108]: WARNING: App 'cinnamon.desktop' respawning too quickly oct. 13 22:27:39 yuna cinnamon-session[2108]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Sorry.... oct. 13 22:29:11 yuna cinnamon-session[2108]: WARNING: App 'cinnamon.desktop' respawning too quickly I recently switched to gcc 5.2 and rebuilt the whole system. This has not fixed the error. try to downgrade x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf from 2.32.1 to 2.30.8, see if this fixes a cinnamon start Thank you for your suggestion. Sadly, it does not solve the problem. There was a problem with the line 591 of /usr/share/cinnamon/js/ui/messageTray.js: this._timeLabel.clutter_text.set_markup(this._timestamp.toLocaleTimeString(this.dateFormat)); The bug was something like 'invalid language tag'. When I comment this line, I am able to start cinnamon, but the hardware rendering is automatically disabled. I tried both x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf 2.30.8-r2 and 2.32.1 version. Here is a sample of my .xsession-error: Window manager warning: Software rendering detected: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.7, 256 bits) Failed to play sound: File or data not found /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/gi/overrides/__init__.py:313: Warning: The property GSettings:schema is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. Cjs-Message: JS LOG: About to start Cinnamon Cjs-Message: JS LOG: ACTIVATING SOFTWARE RENDERING The bug about the format was known (see bug #545772). Concerning the software rendering, is it possible that the version of nvidia driver is too recent? Currently, I run x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-358.09. (In reply to Antoine Lemoine from comment #8) > Window manager warning: Software rendering detected: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe > (LLVM 3.7, 256 bits) Looks like you're using software rendering to begin with. Maybe you should play with `eselect opengl`? Downgrading to a stable x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers might help too, once you have selected the desired OpenGL provider. I currently running x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-358.09. I switched eselect opengl to nvidia (It was the value before. I do not know when I changed it). By the way, finally, what was the error? Is it related to bug #545772 ? Looks like this is obsolete now, right? |
