This ebuild fails to compile with CFLAGS="-Werror=format-security" as per bug 547084.

Additionally, as gdal-2.0.1 is already in the tree and no other packages depend on gdal-1.*, is this ebuild still required or will gdal-2* suffice?

Not sure ! See bugs #554304 and #554316.

So this bug can be marked OBSOLETE once bug 554304 and bug 554316 have been resolved.

sci-libs/gdal-1.11.x was finally removed from tree.
