GIT fails for us to convert our Subversion repositories:

This is no regression, the conversion fails with the former stable version 2.3.8, with the current stable 2.4.6 and also with the latest version 2.5.0. Only the reported error line changes.

With 2.4.6 (and 2.5.0) it is possible to convert the repository if we drop the --preserve-empty-dirs option (not tried for 2.3.6). However, the resulting GIT repositories will obviously not restore empty directories for existing tags or branches anymore i.e. we can no longer reproduce properly old versions, since those directories are used by our build system to trigger profiles.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use git svn clone to clone a subversion-based repository to GIT that contains empty directories

Actual Results:  
Conversion fails with an error in a Perl module.

Expected Results:  
Proper GIT repository.
