Description Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-28 15:19:43 UTC
dmsn is an alternative MSN client. It runs on a Java Virtual Machine. Due to the fact that it runs on a virtual machine, there's no reason for compiling, right? Anyway, the bad point is that this program is freeware rather than opensource.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

if you provide a working ebuild we will test it and make it available.

Under way!
Comment 3 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-29 05:35:50 UTC
I've run into trouble while creating the ebuild. It runs a graphical installer and there is no source code nor a simple binary...

There's another problem: it doesn't install itself system-wide.

Anyway, I sent an email to the author to ask him about these things. Hope I get a positive reply.

Graphical installers are no good to us. You're best off just installing it yourself then.

Unless there is a way to install manually we won't be able to help you.

Sorry didn't mean to resolve.
Comment 6 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-08 13:38:38 UTC
Don't worry :)

I've told to the programmers and they've promissed to give me the binaries, so I'll be able to make a system-wide ebuild!

As soon as I get the binaries, I'll post the ebuilds, ok?

I assign the bug to myself ;)
Comment 7 Gustavo Felisberto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-08 17:08:39 UTC
bugs should be assigned to someone in the gentoo project, if it is assigned to you and you add ebuilds no one will ever see them.
Comment 8 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-08 23:47:18 UTC
Understood.
Comment 9 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-10 14:57:00 UTC
It seems that the program is still too... young. I'll wait some more until it gets more 'mature' and also to see whether the guy finally publishes a ZIP file with the binaries.

I'll come back to this bug after some time.
Comment 10 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-02 06:31:39 UTC
These guys have closed both the binaries and the source. Can't do anything until they get reasonable.
