They depend either on media-libs/libkface (which is available) OR kde-apps/libkface (which you'll find in kde overlay). See ebuild: || ( >=kde-apps/libkface-14.12.0:4 >=media-libs/libkface-4.6.0 ) I see. Portage refused to install 4.7.0 or 4.10.0 because kde-apps/libkface was missing: emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=kde-apps/libkface-14.12.0:4". (dependency required by "media-gfx/digikam-4.10.0::gentoo" [ebuild]) Now, after I have installed media-gfx/digikam-4.4.0 and media-libs/libkface-4.4.0 it chooses the right dependency. Could you please add emerge --info, as well as the full command and resulting output? This could be a portage bug. Here's the full emerge command with output as well as emerge --info: # emerge -av digikam These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! behaviour? (In reply to Michael Palimaka (kensington) from comment #5) > @portage, any idea about this behaviour? It seems as though both packages were masked on the user's system. Otherwise, it would have pulled in media-libs/libkface. Bug 164457 is about showing all possible choices. > It seems as though both packages were masked on the user's system.
That's right. I initially added only media-gfx/digikam to package.keywords. media-libs/libkface wasn't unmasked.
