This is a known issue with gaim < 0.79, btw. 0.79 was just released tonight which fixes the problem. It's just more protocol changes from Y!, and everyone has to play catch-up with that. I'm checking to see if the 0.78-r3 ebuild can be used as-is for 0.79... I put the R3 on my laptop, and it does not fix it. Should be fixed in 0.79. FYI this yahoo problem was well reported on the net, and really doesn't need to be reported here. Especially since it was already reported upstream. it was reported here for the simple fact that everywhere during the emerge it cries to not report it to gaim devels, and there was no "offical" bug opened here. Then it's my mistake for assuming people would check for existing bugs upstream as well. You do realize that there are other distros that also have users that also report bugs as well? The simple fact is that Gentoo users should report bugs here first because more than likely they are Gentoo bugs due to insane CFLAGS or other problems that are really no fault of Gaim or whatever software you are using. This applies to all applications in Gentoo, not just Gaim, as well as all distros, not just Gentoo. However one should always make sure that the bug isn't already reported upstream to save himself the effort of a duplicate bug report at the distro level. |
