not bug, mixing stable and unstable trees not supported. Please re-open. Both www-client/firefox-31.7.0 and www-client/chromium-43.0.2357.65 are stable! my mistake, old tree. Marking www-browsers/firefox unstable in package.keywords removes the blocker, but the problem also exists in mail-client/thunderbird. Do we need a new bug for thunderbird? And in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1148639 it says: Tracking Flags: status-firefox40: fixed This problem is now more important as newer libvpx is being stabilized and, then, it will be more visible. Maybe the way to go would be to default to bundled libpx in thunderbird :/ (In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #7) > This problem is now more important as newer libvpx is being stabilized and, > then, it will be more visible. Maybe the way to go would be to default to > bundled libpx in thunderbird :/ Anarchy is planning to backport the patch so that thunderbird-38.x will work with un-version-pegged libvpx, but thunderbird-31.x likely will be too difficult to patch. The thing is, system-libvpx is not a default-enabled flag, so we are going to need to have blockers to resolve this because the users that have it have enabled it themselves in package.use (In reply to Ian Stakenvicius from comment #8) > The thing is, system-libvpx is not a default-enabled flag, so we are going > to need to have blockers to resolve this because the users that have it have > enabled it themselves in package.use There are no additional "blockers" necessary; portage already informs the user that there is a conflict. The message is a bit ugly, but it does the job. We will simply remove the version libvpx dep from the eclass. (In reply to Ian Stakenvicius from comment #12) > firefox-31.7.0-r1 and thunderbird-31.7.0-r1 committed to the tree with a > patch backported from firefox-36 , works fine locally, please test and we > can stabilize them so long as nobody sees any issues. I just upgraded to www-client/firefox-31.7.0-r1 (custom-cflags custom-optimization dbus gstreamer jit minimal startup-notification system-cairo system-icu system-jpeg system-libvpx system-sqlite) with re-enabled USE="system-libvpx", builds fine, firefox starts, not sure how to test use of libvpx. From "about:buildconfig" ... --with-system-libvpx ... libvpx -> media-libs/libvpx-1.4.0 Thanks for backporting this, I like to use system libs whenever possible ;-) One little problem: WARNING: One or more updates/rebuilds have been skipped due to a dependency conflict: media-libs/libvpx:0 (media-libs/libvpx-1.4.0:0/2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) conflicts with =media-libs/libvpx-1.3.0* required by (mail-client/thunderbird-31.7.0:0/0::gentoo, installed) ^ ^^^^^^ Sorry for bugspam, I should have read more carefully (thunderbird-31.7.0-r1). From "about:buildconfig" ... > --with-system-libvpx ... > libvpx -> media-libs/libvpx-1.4.0 > Thanks for backporting this, I like to use system libs whenever possible ;-) libvpx itself is specifically used to support "webm" video. I've tested webm with it and have seen no issues, but what i'm more intierested in though is any crashes or other abnormal behaviour that would keep these ebuilds from going stable. I don't use my browser to play audio/video ..., but for regular use this version of firefox worked few horus without a problem. I don't understand formats, codecs ... anything media related, but there is a test video on wikipedia webm related article which is webm, works fine (except it takes some time to load (I have slow connection)), next I tested youtube few random videos smaller 360p and 720p works (I don't have any other plugin for media/video (no flash), it was using HTML5), so for me with some minimal media testing looks OK. btw. I'm on amd64 (mostly stable) (In reply to Ian Stakenvicius from comment #12) > firefox-31.7.0-r1 and thunderbird-31.7.0-r1 committed to the tree with a > patch backported from firefox-36 , works fine locally, please test and we > can stabilize them so long as nobody sees any issues. But why has it been removed from the tree without replacement? ( 13 Jun 2015; <anarchy@gentoo.org> +firefox-38.0.5.ebuild, ) ( -firefox-31.7.0-r1.ebuild, -firefox-37.0.2.ebuild, -firefox-38.0.1.ebuild,) (In reply to charles17 from comment #18) > (In reply to Ian Stakenvicius from comment #12) > > firefox-31.7.0-r1 and thunderbird-31.7.0-r1 committed to the tree with a > > patch backported from firefox-36 , works fine locally, please test and we > > can stabilize them so long as nobody sees any issues. > > But why has it been removed from the tree without replacement? > ( 13 Jun 2015; <anarchy@gentoo.org> +firefox-38.0.5.ebuild, > ) > ( -firefox-31.7.0-r1.ebuild, -firefox-37.0.2.ebuild, > -firefox-38.0.1.ebuild,) Both them versions were never stable, they were for ~arch, the latest 38.0.x for both thunderbird/firefox are the replacements. If you feel I have closed your bug and it is still a current issue, please reopen and update it completely. We will not work bugs that have no ebuild in tree any longer or can not be reproduced with a current system. Thank You for your support and understanding The Mozilla Team |
