Updates the XMMS2 home page
Comment 2 Roger 2015-03-27 16:42:24 UTC
Just found the reason I'm seeing http://xmms2.xmms.org as the homepage here, is from a Layman overlay called proaudio containing some older XMMS2 ebuild versions containing the older home page URL. However, these are older versions and are being reported via eix (cache) as the primary home page URL.

Looks like a rats' nest to me. ;-) (ie. Eix caching issue, along with some older deprecated ebuilds within an overlay.)

Anyways, this URL still likely provides a better home page URL, allowing the web server to route to the appropriate lower level home page URL. (ie. Specifying an exact lower level URL is apt to change sooner or later.)

Think I just figured this out. Eix is likely reporting the developer (uninstalled) version homepage, or =media-sound/xmms2-9999. So likely the proaudio layman xmms2 ebuilds need to be corrected.

Hi Roger,

The proaudio overlay isn't maintained by Gentoo - you'd need to contact them directly. I believe their bug tracker is located at http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/bugs/

I already know that overlays are not considered apart of Gentoo Mike.

The URL still points to a lower level URL, and likely should be updated to point toward the upper level URL. (Or vice versa concerning upper/lower levels within the whelms of Internet addressing.)

Instead of just closing because of whatever excuse, I would first suggest forwarding to the actual maintainers and letting them decide whether to close for the more appropriate reason this bug was initially filed. (ie. Unless I'm mistaken, I do not see your name on the internal xmms2 Changelog.)
