> The emul-linux-x86-xlibs (and others as needed) should be offered as an alternative to abi_x86_32 packages. Why ? Especially, that http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/gentoo/dev/299234 hints strongly that on Sunday this bug becomes either a WONTFIX or an OBSOLETE. yeah, emul-linux is going away in 4 days ... http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/message/a210fbb51f6df4c20e3140873a019616 comment #1 linked the news item, this is the other email annoncement. theres no point in making the deps use emul-linux only to take it away in 4 days. gonna WONTFIX this bug. Why? Well it would've saved me a lot of trouble if the ebuild had provided the emul-linux alternative until Sunday at least. Presumably that draft by mgorny is for a news item which we will be able to read with 'eselect news read'? Without it I didn't know what was going on or what to do about it when my 'emerge -avuD @world' went horribly and (unhelpfully) verbosely wrong yesterday. :) |
