Requiring lsusb is optional. From the help of hp-setup you will find it only uses lsusb as fallback option if no serial number or USB ID is provided. There are a few options to configure the printer without lsusb. With hp-probe you can find out the serial number, e.g.: hp:/usb/Photosmart_6510_series?serial=CN1CA4303D05QB HP Photosmart 6510 series hp-setup -i CN1CA4303D05QB From dmesg and sysfs you can obtain the bus and device number, e.g: [ 4373.661639] usb 1-6: new high-speed USB device number 9 using xhci_hcd Bus and device number can be found here: cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-6/uevent BUSNUM=001 DEVNUM=009 hp-setup -i 001:009 Daniel, I didn't realise this, do as you will with the bug :) |
