When emerging libreoffice-4.4.0.3 on my ~amd64 system I am getting the error:

Have you tried 4.4.1.2?

Had the same error on 4.4.1.2 until i rebooted because of a kernel update.
Then, it emerged successfully.
Don't know what was the cause.
