I upgraded from kdenetwork-3.2.2 to 3.2.3 and the jabber plugin was missing from there on, the kopete irc channel recommended to check if libidn is misssing, it was, however that didn't cure the problem. All protocols are there, except jabber. i have no idea what else to try after numerous emerges. Compilation by hand does work so the ebuild or a configure script is probably to blame.

did you recompile kdenetwork after installing libidn?

yes, i recompiled it and it didn't solve the problem.
