Description Raimondo Giammanco 2004-06-14 05:17:11 UTC
From the web page:
#################
SingIt Lyric Displayer for XMMS

This "X Multi Media System" t;X Multi Media System" (XMMS) plugin displays formated lyrics.
If you don't know XMMS visit the homepage of the project.

It was mainly inspired by a WinAmp lyric plugin called "Kuo's Lyrics Visualization Plugin" by Kuo Shiang-Shiang.

The plugin has some remote functions, so you don't need to switch to XMMS for basic manipulations.
#################

Seems in the same league than lyrc.

Did youu really test it on all the listed archs? If not, please only list the archs that you know it works on in KEYWORDS...
Comment 3 Jeremy Huddleston (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-28 23:54:06 UTC
This package segfaults a lot on x86, amd64, and sparc. Simply disabling the plugin causes xmms to segfault some times. The window doesn't display on any arch. WONTFIX for now.. maybe a future version will work better... if you want this in portage, then please work with the upstream dev to get this software more stable.
Comment 4 Raimondo Giammanco 2004-06-29 01:32:06 UTC
Mr. Huddleston,

I apologize for the ARCHs keywords, when modifying an existing ebuild
I forgot to modify them accordingly.

I will see if I can contact the developer, and coax him into
collaboration.

On the stability issues, all the other things being the same, this
singit is, at least for my system, way more stable than lyrc:
it never happened to me to have a crash, and the console debugging
output is useful to understand what the program is doing and why
for example will not read a lyric.

At the moment, I did not find lyrics ready with timestamps,
so they plugin is not exactly ready out of the box.

I posted the ebuild to increse awareness about this little plugin
that I deemed interesting.

Maybe next time I will try the forums or some other more suited place.

Best Regards

xmms-singit/xmms-singit-0.1.28.ebuild

breakmygentoo (I forget the exact URL) is a good place to release ebuilds of
this nature (development versions or unstable software)...

I modified the ebuild a bit, so feel free to use this as the base if you want
to modify it further or pass it on...

Please reopen this bug when the software is a bit more stable, and if the
upstream developer wants to get in touch with me for testing on sparc or amd64,
I am more than willing to assist.

Copy that.

Thanks again
