0.9.0 was released Mar 18, and 0.9.3 (bugfix release) on Sep 23.
0.8.x (current stable) is no longer maintained.

As a workaround, I downloaded
https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.10.2/bitcoin-0.10.2-linux64.tar.gz

and unpacked it.

Just doing

cd bitcoin-0.10.2/bin
./bitcoin-qt

works like a charme.

I get this error:

This bug should be closed, as 0.9.3 is no longer safe. Bug #552208 targets 0.10.2

@Francisco Lloret 

Did you emerge current stable version of bitcoin-qt (0.8.6) ?

I guess You should do that to have all needed libraries, whenn trying to run the downloaded binary version of current upstream version (0.10.2).

If it does still not run, maybe You need some other libraries.
