Steps to reproduce:

1) emerge giftui
2) gift is not installed

Expected results:

Gift should be installed.

giftui does not have gift as a dependency because it is not required to build. A gift core is required to run the giftui properly, but that is up to the user to sort out. You could have a home network with a gift core on one computer, and giftui on all the others connecting to it. Gift was requested to be removed from the dependencies of giftui by a few users who have such a setup.
