I am totally at wits end with this one. I have a Radeon HD 7700/7800 Series (7770) video card and I am getting random crashes, the video goes blank and the system is still running. It requires a power off to restore video. I can not pinpoint exactly when it started, but it was a couple months ago. I think I just saw it as a minor problem and tried minor corrections later to find the gpu lockups still existed. Initially, I though Chrome was causing the problem, but now I am unsure. I would like to say it happens when I do X, but it is random.

This is a bug tracker and not a support forum. We have a forums website, IRC channels and mailing lists where you can try to find help with your problem.

As a follow up, the changes did not correct the problem. I continued to experience GPU freeze or xorg server lockups. I continued to try different configuration changes, but still experienced random freezes.

I finally decided to update xorg-server to 1.16 and mesa to 10.3.5. So far everything seems to be good, including Chrome with HW acceleration enabled.
