When installing net-libs/gupnp-av-0.12.6 with having an older version of dev-lang/vala (0.20.1:0.20) installed, the emerge failed. The symptom was that the cpomilation would take forever and take more and more diskspace, in the end filling up the /var/tmp/portage. The diskspace was taken up by error messages in the build.log. Upgrading vala fixed the issue.
