Description Daniel Mettler 2002-07-20 09:31:21 UTC
i had the same compilation issue as

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=8537

using a clean gentoo 1.3b. after emerging freetype it compiled nicely (still
including the drop shadow patch). i suggest to add a freetype dependency.
currently, there isn't any (emerge -pe kde|grep -i freetype).

This is in progress, I've launched a query to gentoo-core about related issues.

Well, I added freetype as a dep to qt and kdebase and some other ebuilds back
then, and the problem went away.

But I'll keep this a reminder to myself that qt/kde* _might_, under some
circumstances link agianst xfree's freetype instead of the /usr one, which is
unpleasant even if it works. I'll investigate it someday to be sure it's ok.

if one could find a way to make ld look in /usr/lib first before /usr/X11R6/lib
it would fix this problem
this linking to xfree's freetype also seem to cause me not to be able to use the
console font (the linux like one) under konsole

I also have this problem.
Didn't help emerging freetype.

OK if you say so :-)
