rhel/centos support the ability to put rules files in a rules.d directly and then upon startup run augenrules to create a single comprehensive rules file.  It would be nice to have the same support in gentoo.  Would require 2 things:

1. Install the augenrules script
2. Add support to the init script to utilize it

I recently installed audit and I was thinking the same. Either the documentation is wrong, or the behavior must be changed.
