Please make upower a USE flag for mate-applets which decides if battstat-applet-2 is built or not. 

It appears that this is the only package in MATE which requires you to have the upower on your system.

The reason is that my computer became unusable & I found the reason to be a 8GB+ and growing "upower" process to be the cause. Removing sys-power/upower-pm-utils obviously fixed this. The actual upower bug will probably never be fixed since it's part of systemd so RH would probably just respond that it's a feature and that PID1 should be using 8GB or memory. Thus it would be great if it was possible have mate-applets without being forced to have the upower / see "existing preserved libs" messages about it. 

(I know there are actual uses for upower but suspend/resume has not worked with haswell+radeon since kernel 3.12 or something so in my case it is not useful)
