PyOpenGL-2.0.0.44 fails on ppc with 
CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-mcpu=7450 -O2 -pipe -fsigned-char -maltivec -mabi=altivec -mpowerpc-gfxopt"
CXXFLAGS="-mcpu=7450 -O2 -pipe -fsigned-char -maltivec -mabi=altivec -mpowerpc-gfxopt"

But if I emerge without CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS in make.conf it installs fine.

I emerged it both with my own CFLAGS and with yours successfully. Can you please provide your gcc-version (gcc -v) and a copy of the error it gives you?
