Asking for auth makes mirrorselect hang for what feels like forever.

_deeptime(): maxtime is 4

maxtime should probably apply to auth requests.

Mirror itself is fine again, assigning to mirrorselect developers for followup.

Is this still an issue?

The code (at least in recent versions) handles timeout exceptions.  Perhaps this has changed in recent dev-python/requests lib used for this.

Please re-open if it is still an issue.
