Output from /etc/init.d/lvmetad restart
the same with grub2-mkconfig ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### /run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning. No volume groups found ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### *** Bug 526756 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 526756 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I can confirm that the fix suggested in duplicate bug 526756 resolves this issue. After applying 10a11,15 > start_pre() > { > checkpath --directory /var/run/lvm || return 1 > } > to /etc/init.d/lvmetad and rebooting, my rc.log contains: * /var/run/lvm: creating directory * Starting lvmetad ... [ ok ] * Setting up the Logical Volume Manager ... /dev/fd0: open failed: No such device or address /dev/cdrom: open failed: No medium found /dev/sr1: open failed: No medium found /dev/sdd: open failed: No medium found /dev/sde: open failed: No medium found /dev/sdf: open failed: No medium found /dev/sdg: open failed: No medium found [ ok ] instead of the error message. I also had the warning messages: /run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning. Running /etc/init.d/lvmetad start looked good: * Starting lvmetad ... [ ok ] But the warnings continued. Running lvmetad in the foreground failed: # lvmetad -f [D] creating /run/lvm/lvmetad.socket can't bind local socket: No such file or directory I did this: echo 'checkpath --directory "/run/lvm"' >> /etc/conf.d/lvmetad Now it works properly. Would be great if it would work out of the box ;) InGit 1d828236d11580a7fc057ff700b86e09e94cc188 Thanks for the report.
