Actually the problem can be seen very easily just by enabling the overlay on any video (key o), the symbol used for "playing" and "pause" are totally broken when using 2.10.92. Using any other fontconfig version seems to fix the problem.

I followed the advice there and installed fontconfig-2.11.1-r1 instead, and indeed it fixes the problem, so it might be a good idea to stop to consider 2.10.92 as stable...

Steps to Reproduce:
1.run mplayer or mplayer2 on any video, use o key to display overlay, check symbols for playing and pause
2.upgrading fontconfig fixes the problem
