Description Ryan McGuigan 2004-05-23 08:29:27 UTC
Tar version 1.13.92 has a serious bug that prevents it from extracting some archives, notably NVIDIA driver packages < 1.0-5xxx(eg. the stable NVIDIA kernel ebuild cannot be installed correctly if the stable tar ebuild is installed).

tar-1.13.94 seems to fix the problem.

actually, looks like Mr_Bones_ already bumped tar

Can you give a url for an archive that breaks with the old version of
tar please? I'd like to try it out.

i got a problem with tar-1.13.94

it would extract alot of my archives incorrectly. for example soap-src-2.3.1.tar.gz from http://www.apache.de/dist/ws/soap/version-2.3.1/ just aborted with lone zero at ...
switching back to 1.13.92-r3 helped. with google i found out it seems to be a bug in tar itself.
