Seems that nothing in the tree needs this and it looks like nobody is going to take care of this and bump it, I would treeclean it

I will try to maintain the package; there seem to be just Metadata problems now.
REXX is a nice scripting language, so I think it should stay in the Gentoo distro.

What the alternatives for a REXX interpreter under Gentoo?

I understand REXX is not a language used that much in the UNIX environment, but there are people, like me, using ancient IBM proprietary OS, like VM/CMS or MVS, under the hercules.

And, for such activities, a REXX linux interpreter is really useful.

Just my 2 cents.

I also use regina all the time (and I happen to know the original author personally) - I just emerged dev-lang/regina-rexx-3.9.1-r1::gentoo and that went well, without any warnings or anything.

This only affects the older 3.6 version. Since it is masked for a long time, I just went ahead and removed it (along with the stable keywords). I will leave further suggestions for proxied maintainers on bug #592092.
