Description Michael Kiermaier 2004-05-17 10:23:43 UTC
I have two comments on the search engines (in the upper right corner) of firefox:

1) After a fresh emerge, it is not possible to add search engines:

This can be fixed by:
chmod 777 /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/searchplugins
as root.

But I think that should be done by the ebuild.

2) I updated from mozilla-firefox-0.8 to mozilla-firefox-0.8-r3, and the search plugins, that I installed by hand to 0.8, got erased.

This should not happen.

The best solution would be to install the search-plugins somewhere in the users' home directories, I guess.

Comment 1 Joseph Booker 2004-06-05 17:30:56 UTC
root@Athena / ln -s "~/bin" users_bin

root@Athena / less users_bin
users_bin: No such file or directory

If only that worked......

The best way is to get the upstream people to allow a .phoenix/searchplugins/ dir or something
