vtk-4.4-r1.ebuild

Had to add BUILD_SHARED_LIBS option to get VTK installed
Comment 4 Darren Dale 2005-07-16 19:20:47 UTC
I get the following error message when trying to emerge vtk-4.4-r1:

CMake Error: This project requires some variables to be set,
and cmake can not find them.
Please set the following variables:
PYTHON_INCLUDE_PATH
PYTHON_LIBRARY

Will VtkQt work with vtk-4.2.x? A casual look at their webpage says it will.
If so, then we already have a vtk-4.2.6 ebuild in the tree (see bug #25335).

I'm not against the developement of a vtk-4.4.x ebuild, just wondering what it
has to do with this bug?

The homepage mentioned in comment #0 no longer exists.
Comment 7 Markus Dittrich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-21 15:19:05 UTC
The most recent vtk in portage (vtk-5.0.0) has qt3/qt4 support hence
I don't think this bug is valid any more unless I misunderstand what
vtkQt is supposed to do. Does anybody object if I close this bug as invalid?

Thanks,
Markus

I think that VtkQt (and various other similar projects) are distinct from the qt bindings included with vtk (at least in vtk 4.2.x, the last version I have any (limited) experience with). It is my understanding that VtkQt provides an Qt widget (though what this accomplishes that cannot be done with the "official" qt binding I'm not sure).

Anyway, I would still vote for closing invalid.
Comment 9 Markus Dittrich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-07-18 09:54:50 UTC
The link to VTK/Qt posted originally is dead so I am not even sure
if the package exists any more. Hence, I am closing this
bug. Please re-open with updated info should there still be a
real need for the package.

Best,
Markus
