dmesg
You are booting your kernel with noapic, what did you expect? if you have trouble with apic (something strange because your specs show a recent system), look for a bios update from your manufacturer. But disabling apic on multicpu computer is just wrong. Hi, This is the boot entry for linux. menuentry 'Gentoo GNU/Linux' --class gentoo --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-simple-8757aefb-92e5-4351-8dc0-058b6ae2276f' { load_video insmod gzio insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='hd0,msdos1' if [ x$feature_platform_search_hint = xy ]; then search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root --hint-bios=hd0,msdos1 --hint-efi=hd0,msdos1 --hint-baremetal=ahci0,msdos1 8c0044bd-b186-413e-83c3-be6b263e7219 else search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root 8c0044bd-b186-413e-83c3-be6b263e7219 fi echo 'Loading Linux 3.14.3-gentoo-minimal ...' linux /kernel-3.14.3-gentoo-minimal root=/dev/sda2 ro init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd quiet } As you can see, noapic isn't specified. Am I supposed to specify it somewhere else? [ 0.000000] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=11748a41-fea4-4686-b8e4-31c95b9a098b rw resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/c1b0014d-c356-41f2-8621-6696ab87443d quiet splash noapic nmi_watchdog=0 [ 0.000000] ACPI: Skipping IOAPIC probe due to 'noapic' option. Corrected dmesg
Updated with the right dmesg.
Sorry, have updated the dmesg with the correct attachment This is a bug tracker. When you find bugs you report them here. There is no bug here - it looks like you are looking for support. We have web forums, IRC channels and mailing lists where Gentoo Linux users can get support. Well booting the kernel with irqpoll or acpi=noirq option restores access to USB and speeds up graphics. This would mean that I am not lacking drivers but its a kernel issue. Upstream bug @ https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76001 suggests its an acpi_bios. (In reply to Amit Prakash Ambasta from comment #8) > Well booting the kernel with irqpoll or acpi=noirq option restores access to > USB and speeds up graphics. This would mean that I am not lacking drivers > but its a kernel issue. So you have found a solution to a local problem. Nice. |
