You need to enable gles to be able to compile libsdl2 with wayland support

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.enable wayland
2.disable gles
3.try to emerge
Actual Results:  
compile fail

If we would need both enabled, then the build system shouldn't allow this combination. So this could as well just be a broken codepath.

fixed in media-libs/libsdl2-2.0.2-r1 and media-libs/libsdl2-2.0.3
