Bug 509424 – www-servers/apache-2.2.27-r2 - init.d script ignores apache2_opts in conf.d

Recent updates to apache including apache-2.2.27-r2:2 are ignoring /etc/conf.d/apache2, such that apache2_opts does not get set. 

Here is how I set the variable
APACHE2_OPTS="-D DEFAULT_VHOST -D INFO -D STATUS -D LANGUAGE -D SSL -D SSL_DEFAULT_VHOST -D SUEXEC -D PHP5 -D PERL"

Oddly, the default doesn't have these relatively basic set. Regardless, the whole variable is never loaded by /etc/init.d./apache2. It's not clear where would be loaded from, inside the runscript itself?

This bug is still present in apache-2.4.16.

I cannot reproduce with recent versions, also reading the init.d script I see that APACHE2_OPTS are honored from /etc/conf.d/apache
